A DocuSign alternative for deals you agreed in a conversation.

DocuSign is one of the best-known electronic signature platforms. If you already have a finished document and need it signed, an e-signature tool like DocuSign is built for that. OfClause is aimed at an earlier step: small businesses who agreed a deal in a chat or email thread and do not yet have a document at all.

Different starting points

E-signature platforms such as DocuSign generally start from a document you upload or create from a template. You add signature fields, choose the signers and send it out. That works well when the agreement has already been written — by you, your solicitor or the other side.

OfClause starts from the conversation. You paste the part of a WhatsApp chat or email thread where the deal was agreed, and OfClause helps you work out what the agreed terms actually were before anything is drafted or signed.

What OfClause does differently

  1. Reads the pasted conversation and lists each term as proposed, accepted, rejected, replaced or unclear, with a link to the message it came from.
  2. Separates different deals in the same conversation and asks you to choose one.
  3. Flags missing or unclear terms, and blocks drafting when acceptance is unclear or a term depends on a call, voice note or attachment it cannot see.
  4. Drafts a plain agreement record only from the terms you confirm.
  5. Lets the other side review and sign through a guest link without creating an account.

When an established e-signature platform may suit you better

If your main need is sending documents you already have for signature at volume, with integrations into other business systems, a dedicated e-signature platform may be a better fit. Larger organisations may also need specific signature types, compliance features or enterprise controls; check what each provider offers against your requirements.

OfClause is currently in private beta and is focused on small UK businesses. Its signatures are simple electronic signatures with a signing record; it does not check identity documents or provide qualified electronic signatures.

Using both

The two approaches are not mutually exclusive. You can use OfClause to work out and record the terms agreed in a conversation, download the agreement record, and sign it with whichever tool you prefer.

Frequently asked questions

Does OfClause replace DocuSign?
Not for every use. OfClause is built for turning conversations into agreement records. If you only need to sign documents you already have, a dedicated e-signature tool may suit you better.
Can I sign an OfClause agreement with another tool?
Yes. You can download the agreement record and sign it however you choose.
